  • Multi-celluar, the sponge being the first???

    What about Plants??......

Man, Spongebob Squarepants is our ancestor.

  • Besides the basic shape (morphology) may be the same, but that does not mean sponges haven't changed genetically over time. And sponges are a pretty diverse group.

  • accept my invite

  • In that case, it was an intelligent question. ;-)

  • thanks for clearing that up , Just asking qestions, only way to get answers

  • "Why are there still sponges?"

The question belies a basic lack of understanding of the principles of evolution. An animal type doesn't need to go away just because another species evolves from it. Sponges still exist because there is still an environment for them to live in. Unless something kills them all off, they will continue to exist because only select specimens need to mutate from a given species to form a new species. Not every member of the species needs to change.

  • Why are there still sponges?

  • I didn't love sponges before. Now I do!

  • your brain thrives on meaning.. you need to Peacock wherever you are.. increase your reproductive and survivability-and you shall be happy

  • evolution shouldn't drive you mad.
