It's all mechanics! I'm only 155lbs, mechanics is the reason I can slap-shot accross the entire ice surface with power...

Hope the music makes the lesson more entertaining, makes me laugh! Great track from Shadow.

  • Thanks for watching, it's great to see people trying to be supportive of others trying to learn for the first time...

..somehow this has become a Ski 2 SK8 transition page..

My thoughts... Ice Hockey has soooooo many skills, techniques, etc that must be learned... yes you can take some aspects of skiing and relate it to "ice skating" .. it's good for a start, but there really is sooooo much more to learn.. I do have other video teaching a variety of versatile methods to help..

    thanks

  • is skiing like skating at all i just want 2 start playing hockey so nobody make nasty comments plz just answer

  • Bit of skiing can relate to skating. Slalom edge work and stops, but the balence will be a big adjustment. Good luck.

  • Nice instruction. The technique of flexing the stick in order to provide power is something I think many intermediate players do not fully understand.

  • don't worry man this is my first year playin and i couldnt skate at all, just practice on rollerblades outside helps alot, and no one will make fun of you everyones supporive cuz its ur first year, but i dont think skiing is anything like skating

see all

  • Nice to see someone else has an appreciation for old DJ Shadow...

  • @Skaternumber13 It's never too late to start playing hockey. I recommend starting playing defense because you learn how to skate better, and you see all of the action in front of you.

  • Props for using a killer track.

  • i can't remember the exact name of the song but it's off of DJ Shadow's album called Endtroducing.

  • no. its cool. i've been skiing since 5, but just recently got into hockey. Its same fundementals, just balance will be key, and you have more of a freedom of movement. backwards forwards. you'll get it, but since you ski, it does help, k?

  • I tried hockey today and I was actually better than I thought I would be and I am a skier so yes I definitely think it's similar to skiing.

  • Im 13 and i skate i have never ice skated before but im usually naturally talented at these kinda sports (not being cocky haha) but is ice skating anything like skateboarding, snowboarding, or roller blading. and do u think its too late for me to start playing ice hockey? thanks.

  • what the song in the background, i had it before but i had to get a new laptop
