Manson is the product of an uncaring society. Instead of reading books on the murder how about digging into his upbringing. He was cast away, tossed like a piece of garbage. yet his mind an evil mind indeed was very active towards his next con or chance. He may not have acutally killed anyone but he did indeed highly suggest that the others should or he wouldn't be happy. they all wanted to make charlie happy.

@Dragonsforyin Also, regarding Susan Atkins. She was convicted of murdering Tate in court, but Tex later confessed that she did not- that he did. So, let's just agree the court system is not 100% perfect. Atkins also left the family in 68 and went to Mendocino, then to jail and then Mansona actually banished her from the family for her ways. She left for a while and then came back right before he murders. She was always coming and going- if Manson tried controlling her that wouldn't be.

@Dragonsforyin Well, the books are full of crap. Spahn Ranch was not in the desert and they did not go to Barker until AFTER the murders aside from a short stint i 1968. Manson hopped between those ranches and many houses throughout 1968 and 1969, those "brainwashed" people did as they wanted, left, came back, whatever. They were not brainwashed as a whole- maybe a few were. As for personally killing people, who? Maybe Shea- that's it. That was not proven and he was convicted of conspiracy.

@Dragonsforyin Also, they only lived in the desert for a VERY short time. Most of the time they were in the bus, and then a handful of months at Spahn (which was right of a main highway). The people came and went as they pleased, left whenever they want for days, Manson left the ranch regularly for days at a time leaving the people alone. If you get all of your information from books, don't be surprised if some of it is wrong. There's a lot of things in Bug's book that was proven false.

@Dragonsforyin If you read the book you'd know that his defense rested without calling a SINGLE witness. How is that fair- that he could not defend himself? WHo did he kill himself? Clem, Bruce Davis and Tex killed Shorty, Bobby killed Hinman the girls and Tex killed the others. Who? As for brainwashing, if he brainwashed all of those people why did they come and go as they pleased? Many of the family dropped out when he went to Death Valley. Brainwashed people don't drop out.

@CERNOBE : Well, it's just that thing about the planned murder of Jesus Christ...by so-called "upstanding members of the religious community".... We live in a world in which certain people try to teach us to think backwards. Anyone who uses the word "conspiracy" in a derogatory way, makes the conspirators nervous and they defend themselves intensely by trying to discredit the people who see them for what they are. Bottom line: nobody's fooling anyone.

Yall need a history check on this guy... He killed people personally and was found guilty of that in a court of freakin' law for petes sakes. And he also took a bunch of kids out into the desert and gave them drugs and had sex with them and YES he DID brainwash them into killing people. Read a book or two on the trial of this nutjob and you'll understand it better. Free manson? Hell no!
