Sure enough! I have to remind myself sometimes. This thing looked so straightforward I didn't really read the manual in detail; I couldn't believe how well it worked when I followed their instructions. ~{8^>) Anyway, thanks for all the vids and keep 'em coming-- they're really informative and I've learnedd a lot. It'd be great if you posted another vid using this thing per the manual-- they really work well and save you so much time it's crazy...

does this work with wires in the wall that don't have power running though them?

@nathanbernard No it will not work on dead wires.The transmitter requires 110v to operate. I use a fluke wire tracer for tracing wires. It is designed for phone guys but works well enough for me. There are many wire tracers on the market,just Google it to find something in your price range.

So you had to turn off half of the breakers anyway? Doesn't seem very accurate. Hope it didn't cost too much.

Perhaps it may not be exactly accurate but it saves times by not have to walk back and forth between the panel and the area you are working at.

I myself had to re-read the instructions. It's very, very accurate if you do it their way:
1) Plug in the transmitter
2) HOLD DOWN THE TRIGGER as you drag it over the breakers. If the receiver sounds, STOP. Keep holding the trigger down and wait.
3) The receiver stops sounding. Go to the next breaker. Keep holding the trigger down.
4) After scanning all breakers, RELEASE THE TRIGGER. Run the receiver over all breakers a 2nd time. This time, only one breaker will make the receiver respond.
