Elitist ShoppingGate is the latest political scandal to rock the McCain-Palin campaign. Gov. Sarah Palin benefited from an elite $150,000 clothes shopping spree paid for by RNC Republican backers since Sen. McCain made Palin his vice presidential pick. $75,000 was spent in one single Minnesota shopping trip. Palins maverick status and claims of empathy with the middle class, conservatism and fiscal responsibility clearly are suspect. The Republican excess exhibits a clear double standard from a party that lashes out at Democratic candidates for far less extravagant spending. News opinion sources include MSNBC / Rachel Maddow / David Shuster / and Morning Joe.

  • Only a "hockey mom" who doesn't have a job would think a $75,000 clothing shopping spree is reasonable. She spent in one trip a little less than a make in a year... just on clothes. Way to help your party "associate" to the pains of the middle class.

  • capreanake and sadieaugust - more proof of how the McCain campaign fosters hate and ignorance. Why do you think Colin Powell and other staunch Republicans are supporting Obama? McCain and Palin are running an ugly campaign, and every insult you have reinforces this statement.

By the way - what do you think the $700 billion bailout and all other stimulus packages are? You got it - Socialism at its best.

  • How come no one said anything when Obama took the campaign plane on a personal trip to Hawaii for vacation? I am sure that cost a whole lot more than 150K. Double Standard? You- Betcha!

  • I haven't even spent $500 on clothing in over 10 years. I deserve a new wardrobe.

Hey Palin please give me at least $5,000 so I can do an entire closet upgrade!

  • Unfortunately, you can't buy brains. Clothes, accessories, makeup, yes. But intelligence is ... well, priceless.

  • what the hell can you buy at any of those stores for 75k?

  • She ran as a...hockey-team owner...mom.

  • By using an anagram and re-arranging the following 18 letters, you get to uncover the true nature of this woman:

Sarah Palin, Maverick (18 Letters) =

    MANIACAL VIPER, .... SHARK !!!

  • There's a rumor circulating out there, that when Sarah Palin bought a dozen pair of shoes during her shopping spree in New York, she asked the shoe salesman to take a black inkmarker & write inside each shoe, either the letter "L" or "R" so that once she gets home, she wouldn't be all discombobulated & would know for sure, which shoe goes on her left and right foot.

Alaskans, she's all yours. Keep her!! We don't need her and sure don't want her.

  • I think the Palin family is white trash & something needed to be done to clean them up but I think it was wrong to spend OVER $150,000 on taxpayers dime. That money was donated by Republicans who supported McCain's election.

  • I hope she comes back and win the GOP nomination of 2012 and run again.

That will make easy on president Obama, so he can stay busy fixing problems.

  • Hey Sarah: the Bible beaters are talkin' 2012 for you. Is this shopping spree on someone else's dime your idea of "fiscal responsibility"?

Or maybe you think that ALL Americans should be like Alaskans: singing the praises of "free enterprise" while sponging off the big oil companies to the tune of thousands per citizen each year in the form of a handout check?
