@juki0h There is almost no copper in modern pennies, they only plate the outside of it. Pennies are mainly composed of zinc.

It's not illegal to destroy or damage coins, it is only illegal to deface them "fraudulently" as in to make one coin look like a valid currency of a different value. (google it)

@punkskamp420 As long as you don't try to spend a stretched penny after the fact (or farm melted pennies for metal to be sold) you can destroy money all you want to.

It is indeed Thermite on top at the beginning,just for show.The temp under the focal point of a fresnel lens is over 2000 degrees,there is no need for an "acetolene" torch to help it at all.You can't breathe those vapors,btw,they are toxic.
