A video of some $23,000/pair Bang and Olufsen Beolab 5 speakers playing. Sorry for the somewhat shaky camera.

Anyway, for what these speakers are, they are absolutely amazing. Each speaker has a 1000-watt 15 inch subwoofer in the bottom, a 1000-watt 10 inch mid-bass, a 250 watt mid-range, and a 250 watt tweeter, for a total of 2500 watts per speaker. So these things have unreal power. Plus, all of the amps are built in, and there are absolutely zero external components. You could plug an iPod directly into these and they'd work!

If you were to get an equivalent system to this, you'd have to get multiple components (2 big speakers, 2 large subwoofers, a very large amp, and a pre-amp), while again, with these all you need are the two speakers.

And of course, they look absolutely amazing.

  • How does bass sound on these speakers?

  • @Wiseguyzmoney Each one has a 15" 1000-watt subwoofer in the bottom. That should give you an idea :)

  • "Please play something decent on me!" - Your speakers

  • @djlane74 These aren't my speakers, but yes I should have played Enter Sandman or Sad But true instead of Nothing Else Matters. Those songs would really have gotten these things rocking! :P

  • It can't have been the Beolab 5s I heard, they looked like some mini version of them. That explains the power problem.. these are big and with 15 inch woofers, the bass power will not be wasted. Are they bi-tri-quad amped as well? 250 watts does sound like overkill for a tweeter. I would have thought you'd cook most tweeters long before reaching that.

  • @TimpBizkit Those were probably the Beolab 9's you heard, and they are indeed the mini version of these.

Yes these are quad-amped :) And yes 250 watts does seem pretty steep for a tweeter, but of course it's designed to take that much (which is amazing).
