What will the world be like in the year 2030? What trends can we expect? What can we do to shape them now? That's the agenda of the Young Global Leaders. They come from a diversity of countries and sectors - politicians, scientists, artists and entrepreneurs. The international "Young Global Leaders" platform was started by Klaus Schwab, founder and executive chairman of the World Economic Forum.
The five-part series "2030" presents the visions of Young Global Leaders on health, education, the environment and the fight against poverty. In the first of our five-part series we present three personalities who tell us about their visions for protecting the environment. They are Catalina Cock Duque of Colombia, Shai Agassi from Israel and Marcel Reichart of Germany. Catalina Cock Duque works on a project which teaches goldminers how to protect the tropical rainforest. Shai Agassi is developing new kinds of car motors in the hope of helping the electric car make a breakthrough. And Marcel Reichart has the goal of linking people who have found solutions to environmental problems. Report by: Michael Wetzel / Wolf Gebhardt
