Ask a number of ambiguous questions, muddy the definition of "racism," then sample less than 0.06 percent of the population over a period of 10 years. The conclusion - 12 percent of Australians are racist.

Even considering the hit and miss nature of the survey, it suggests that neatly 90 percent of Australians are not actually considered as 'racists.'

Using similar criteria, 12.5 percent of Americans consider themselves as racist.

A poll carried out by the BBC In 2002, concluded that 44 percent of Britons believed they lived in a racist society. In France, over 15 percent are considered racist.

Is Australia racist? Answer, very probably less than many other nations including the USA and France

  • "AustrialiaProud" - lol, I've never really seen any Australian take so much pride in being an Australian.

  • SupaKaream

    Thanks for the compliment!

  • However in my opinion racism can be defined as

"Treating someone in a negative way with race being fully or partially the reason behind acting that way"

  • mewrox99

All too often, allegations of "racism" are made towards people just because they say or do something you don't like. For example, the statement "I didn't get the job cos the colour of my skin..!" totally ignores the hundred other reasons for not getting the job.

The definition of 'racism' is now completely ambiguous and it means different things to diffirent people

  • Just because they don't say openly they're racist, doesn't mean there not.

  • GlamoOur94

Yes, that of course is true. It's the very reason why there is no validity in citing Australia as more racist than anywhere else. The facts are, firstly everyone's definition of "racism" is different and secondly, nobody really knows in any community how many people covertly hold seriously racist views. It's in the Australian nature to be direct and call a spade a spade. Many cultures are more discrete and their views guarded. It doesn't mean they are inherently any less racist.

  • stop talking about it ,it breeds indifference for no real reasons .

  • @zwiiyt to think whatever you like - as I am. I did not say you couldnt think freely (god that would be horrible). All I expressed was MY opinion of the lady in the video and a general feel of Australian society.

Nothing in my comment said anything about restricting how you or her or whoever should think.

    Learn to read bro.

  • @zwiiyt Do you even know what fascist means? Clearly you either didn't have a very strong argument or you're confused. Theres 2 things wrong with your argument and one thing right:

    1) I'm not a fascist, I clearly encourage multiculturalism and acceptance NOT the creation of some sort of one-race community.

    2) Youre little comment about how I should go to Nkorea is cute. But attack my argument, not the person - a basic rule of debate.

But you're right that you are allowed to think (CONT)

  • @treebee69 Those who are most proud are the most disconnected from the nature of being and the world... Super sad.

  • @AustraliaProud be proud of nothing other than what you achieved in your life....Nationalism is bullshit. What are you trying to be American? Take a step back and really study the world. You are nothing but a speck of evolved star stuff that evolved to have an opinion that is a disconnected fallacy.

  • THAT BLONDE WOMAN IS THE BIGGEST SEE YOU NEXT TUESDAY I EVER SAW,

  • MOST RACIST PEOPLE AS A WHOLE... NOT ALL BUT MOST AND USUALLY MORE SO THE MALES...

  • @speaks4justice I agree with you my family lived between Australia and New Zealand and could not believe the difference of how people were.... Aussies just like this interview sweep the seriousness of the subject under the rug. They make it so that making a casual racist joke is as casual as sipping tea with your family, no big deal. Their attitude toward the subject as a whole is oppressive and very extremely disgusting. They are unaware, not connected, not evolving, and ignorant
