The Matrix Remixed - "Programs hacking programs?!"

This is one of the few instances where I remove a scene from the Wachowsky's original continuity. Originally the scene where Niobe is confronted by the Trainman preceded the scene where Niobe briefed the captains. The scene required some trimming since it referred to events that occurred exclusively in the video game. It helps to further reinforce an ominous sense of doubt with the repeated insinuation of what happened to Zion "the last time".

It took me a while to think of what would be the best way to transition from that scene to the next scene. I decided to use the pulsating ambient light, which was used as a creative means to hide the Ghosts exit, as a natural fade to black. To carry on the sense of ominous foreboding and uncertainty the image doesn't return even as the audio for Neo's line "Why are you here?" plays over the soundtrack. When the Oracle responds with "I love candy." the picture comes back on a moment of levity.

Continuing with the original intention to use the scenes with the Oracle as an alternative form of omniscient narration, the scene continues with their discussion about exiled programs. Inter-cut with the scene where Smith "hacks into" Bane's body, it serves as an indirect means of explaining Smith's back-story as an exiled program.
