@kwast22 Well, that's a matter of opinion. Certainly, today, big egos are in since we have the era of "attitude' but many creative artists, past & present manage to get by with tiny portions.
The ones with the biggest egos are usually the least talented.

Saw Wes live in London in 1965, i was only a kid but..to this day NOBODY comes near to him in terms of feel, tone and imagination. Nobody is as nice & humble a person as him either.
He had no ego whatsoever. Thank you for this wonderful tune.

@guitarplayer6993 wes claimed never to practise so he could play what he didn't know

@kwast22 I do not think that it is a matter of ego. I believe that it is more a matter of character and a reflection of self, as well as, understanding and connecting with the 'knowledge of music,' whether that be by ear, theory or just by practicing for 8 hours a day and knowing how to use that knowledge. But taildragger53 is right, its a matter of personal opinion.

This recording was done in 1965 on the album, "Movin' Wes", NOT 1964.

@taildragger53 Ofcourse, you should say the person next to you is much better. But think again, if you whant to be a great artist, you need a big 'ego', because only then you can develop a creative mind!!

Hello Praguedive: Thanks a lot for sharing these testimonies of the best music like Wes's. Maybe you knew Wilis Conover in the 60's and 70's. He was the "official" jazz DJ. He was widely known in Europe. It was Wilis who made me to be aware of Wes greatness, through the VOA Jazz Hour, a SW radio emission aimed to Europe. Have you any of these audio programs? Unfortunately the VOA denied to publish them. Thanks again.
