This is kind of an intro/announcement to the re-assembly video that I just put up. The re-assembly video was right at 15 minutes (and that's after some serious editing just to make the limit) so I had to make yet another video. The link to that video is at the end of this one and also a little farther down in the description.

There are also some tips in this video that may help some people out.

Good luck to everyone and here are the links.

Reflow jig mentioned in "Tip #1": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D86snH4ADpg

And if you haven't watched them yet, here are the links to parts one and two of the reflow process.

  • how big is the tv?

  • @xXRETZZXx It's a projector.

It's only 84 inches, but I physically can't go any bigger in this small apartment that I'm in.

Once I get into a bigger place, I'll probably get a 110 or 120 inch screen.

It looks kind of washed out because all of the lights are on, but it looks amazing with the lights off.

  • You look like a cool kinda guy

  • @pchelp3 Thank you. :)

  • with the aluminum foil, do u just get straight to heating the CPU and GPU without preheating the entire board?

  • @marty1091 That is correct. If you use the foil, you can skip the pre-heating process.

    Good luck.

  • Does the reflow-jig provide any benefit if you're using the aluminum foil?

  • HOLY TV BATMAN!

  • i had my ps3 for about 5 1/2-- 6 years without any problems and i just got the YLOD last sunday... i think you can extend the life of your ps3 with the proper care like using a can of air and blowing out the dust periodically and keeping it in a place with alot of airflow.. that worked for me i dont know if it will work for everyone else but it may help some of you

  • Can't thank you enough for your YLOD series. Followed along as best I could and got my 80GB breathing again. Haven't load tested it yet but at least I can log in. Awesome jig video and the foil tip was great. It is.... ALIIIIIIIVVVE! Even if it doesn't last the fact that it's up and running again is pretty cool. Nice little side project. Kudos to your insight, knowledge and experience. Cheers!

  • Nice TV
