  • Jagar,

Thanks for your concern... No, it wasn't my claim, but we were guests of Jim, the private property owner. Right you are about good food at the Washington Hotel. Me, my sisters and cousins have stayed there going on 3 years in a row as we prospected the SF Yuba above Washington. We're coming back later this Fall again to stay at the hotel, and prospect with Jim on his land. Maybe see you too at the hotel. Heavy pans to you.

  • Spyrofan1254,

Thank you for your kind comments. Really. I love nature, the great outdoors, God's green earth. When I dredge I remove many heavy metals from the creek/river bed -- mercury, lead from birdshot, bullets, etc., old rusty iron, brass, etc. Also, on EVERY trip I pick up trash, cans, bottles, glass. Gold prospectors are a great bunch of "clean up" artists. I just move inert creek sand to gte the gold. Fish love me under water! God bless. Randy "C-17A" :)

  • Frchkn,

GOOD question! Ask around. Seems so much of the entire river is either private property or claimed. I say first look for obvious public access points, like a public camp ground on the river, or such. Next, contact the Nat Forest Ranger for that forest and see if you can get a map from them, or the BLM or USGS folks on active claims. With dredging banned, many claims may not have been renewed and reverted back to public lands, eventhough the old metal claim signs are on the trees. Randy

  • Glad you liked it. That's the reason I do it..to share the gold adventure of it all, help others, inspire others to get out and go for the gold! I was using a White's MXT in prospecting & jewelry/coin modes. It found .22 lead bullets, iron, wire fragments, etc. Just so much old miner junk. Wished we could have stayed. That whole area had a good amount of fine/flake fold! I knew we were always just one more pan of material away from a great picker or nugget. We just ran out of time. Randy

  • cool video..What kind of detector were you using? Looks like fun.. Looks like a good spot as well..

  • @jessgo33,

I was using a White's MXT.............with a 6 inch oval DD coil............in the "prospecting" mode. That spot was very productive for good fine gold. Wish I could have stayed longer! Randy C-17A

  • Is this your claim that you are crevicing on? If not, I guarantee that you are on someones claim. This whole river is staked from east to west. I know, I have a claim just above Washington. BTW, if you are in the area, hungry, and want a good hamburger, head to the "haunted" bar/restaurant/hotel in downtown Washington, Ca......."Jagar"

  • That is very cool, you are so amazing!

  • Keep up the good work! While prospecting your saving the Eco system!

  • I live very close to the Yuba river, how do I find out where I can go look for some gold without getting into some trouble? I have been to a place and found a lot of gold good size too with just a gold pan. I am not sure if I am allowed there tho?? how do I find out?
