You right a carbon fiber boom did cost me just about $30, and a heat sink ran me about $4, alot more expensive than the 1 cent straw, but its a hell of alot faster... cool idea though...

The straws catch some of the rotor wash and bring into the canopy onto the motors

Why not just get a carbon fiber boom and heat sinks , you will reduce weight and drag from that bulky stock tail n keep your motors cooler. ;-)

Sounds like it would cost half as much as the whole chopper did to begin with. Sounds like it would work though.
