CJ Holtaus, Senior Director of CPU Development at Centaur and Epan Wu, Senior Direct or CPU Product Marketing at VIA talk about the design of the VIA Nano processor. Filmed at the VIA Press Event, Computex 2008.
Just read up on a whole bunch of benchmarks...I have to admit, I expected the VIA Nano to come out on top given its superscalar out of order architecture, but I did not expect the Intel Atom to take such an overall beating. The Nano looks like a power efficient version of the Pentium 4 while the Atom looks like a power efficient version of the VIA C7. Everything old is new again?
It would be nice to see these guys grow bigger and bigger to be able to compete with Intel and AMD in the desktop market

Atom is based on the P3 architecture but has less pipelines.
