I live in the Midwest USA and when we get hot summer weather we start having power-outages (brownouts). Out power plants can't handle the energy we need now. How could they possibly handle it if everyone had an electric car? This is the reason, I believe, that we don't have long-range, all-electric cars. It's not the technology that is the problem, it is our ability to create enough electricity to feed our needs.

Yea, I know the EV1 story. It made a good movie and discussed the many interests that MAY have played a role in halting production. But, the tide has turned. With the public's interest at a new high and the scientific evidence overwhelming policy makers are taking notice.
