@manco82 I agree. I like Charlotte over the others. I like how Charlotte's music is powerful yet without all the gruesomeness of Tori's music.

I think in the last 15 years, the only 2 women to come along to challenge Tori's skill at the piano are Regina Spektor and Charlotte Martin. I can't say I like Spektor's vocal too much, but Charlotte's are just incredible. She could have been an opera singer.

I agree with you all that they are both amazing singers and songwriters Tori is a Goddess in her right...I am a tori fan through and through but this chick is amazing and the fact that she can hold her own and that people compare her to Tori is awesome in itself..that gives her validity and credit...I think she fuckin rocks..and I love this song seriously....Bravo Charlotte...keep them coming...

This song and performance is so incredible it stands on its own, no comparisons needed.

@freezingprocess thats purely because Tori was the first cooky female piano player to come along in a LONG time, especially in america. Singer/songwriters at that time were all guys and guitars, and out comes this firey red head with her piano and blew everyone away. The piano and the songwriting is the only thing Tori and Charlotte have in common - the lyrical content and melodies are completely different. They just fall in the same genre because the media can't label them as anything else

Fantastic!

They are both beautiful, sexy, strong singers but they have very different styles. Tori is much more advanced at piano and their voices are very different. For one i can understand everything Charlot is saying and tori is much more cryptic.

Tori Tori Tori!!!!

There are a lot of comparisons though:
Soprano voice
The patterns in piano (ways of expressing aggression on parts that were done with a rock band in studios, as well)
Strong drum use in studio
And the tapping on the piano wood to create a beat.
All classic Tori things we saw from 1992-1999.
They're voices are far from comparable, though.
Wow, this is powerful! Charlotte puts so much expression and intensity into her voice and pianoplay... "Steel" nearly transfers a part of the anger to the listener... creepy & haunting

Almost any female singer/songwriter/pianist faces being compared to Tori Amos.
Oh well! Keep the beauty flowing Charlotte.
