Having worked hundred's of vocals with bad time, it was a delight to work with Anita, if only briefly toward the end of her career. Incredible swing and phrasing.
She makes "Miss Jones" totally her own. Perfect timing and knows where the beat is at all times. Great trio as well. The drummer Poole was her closest buddy but apparently their relationship (according to her) was based on junk and was not sexual.

@hawkerdoo She is absolutely the business. The reason I became a jazz singer myself. Sadly she died a few years ago, but she was gigging right up to the end. If you would like to read her story, get a copy of "High Times, Hard Times". She paid her dues alright, started as a teenage singer at the dance marathons of the American Depression. It's a good read - pretty harrowing. Enjoy!

Is Amy Winehouse a decendant of Anita?

.. and I red she said she was stoned as a monkey during the Mr.Kewlly recording session!
Awesome artist; she always surprises somehow, imprevedible and swinging
@saucy violet Thank you! I was curious since Anita is a new found talent for me and I like to know their history. Been listening to her alot these last two weeks and love her, she's a gigantic find for me.
