When fishing for salmon, occasionally foul hooking one is unavoidable due to the number of fish present in the river. In British Columbia, intentionally snagging a fish is illegal and any unintentionally foul hooked fish are required to be released with care.

When fishing in the Tidal Fraser River, we like to carry a catch and release net that allows us to net the fish with great care so when it is released, it would most likely survive and complete its spawning cycle.

  • yeah i use crocodile spoons in the pink color also for coho and chinook but they do work better for pinks

  • Yes, for coho particularly we've had good success with silver/copper/golden spoons, but if the water clarity is poor, pink, orange coloured spoons work just as well for coho.

  • What type of lure or spoon were you using when you caught that samon?

  • Any spoons or spinners in the 1/8 and 1/4oz range would work for pink salmon. We use 1/4 Gibbs Croc spoons in pink, orange, green. Search Gibbs Fishing on Google for more information.

  • Nice gear.

  • oh man....you asians catch all the fish, but you never seem to have a boat, i dont get it

  • @LittleRedCyclingHood As Rod is retrieving his lure a fish either swims by, bumps the lure and it hooks it's self or he (unintentional) pulls it onto a lieing fish.

    Hope this helps,

    ~David
