Stoke 3-2 West Ham, League Cup 1972 (Bobby Moore penalty save)

It's season 1971-72, and this is what you call a proper cup tie. After the two-legged League Cup semi-final between Stoke and West Ham finished all square at 2-2 on aggregate, it went to a replay at Hillsborough. And then a second replay at Old Trafford. In the midst of all the madness over the 4 games came a memorable penalty save by Bobby Moore. Here's Gerald Sinstadt.

The referee's slide was nicely executed, not something you see in the modern manifestation of football.

Wasn't at this game at Old Trafford, but I WAS actually in the stand at Upton Park when Gordon Banks saved that penalty. What a game!! What a series of games, in fact, that neither side deserved to lose. Should have been the final. Far better than any of today's penalty shootout lotteries.
