Bells ring
Singing for her but she goes back to bed
Her room's a mess
And everywhere there's hair
And nothing left for her to wear
Her uniform is wet
The rain
The night before
The girl
The kiss
Oh, the kiss

Oh Ms. Porter's rolling in her grave
Save what Jackie 'O would say
If she knew
What they do at night

Notes in class pass back and forth
Like Wimbledon at 5 games all
The things they hold in every fold so tight
Would keep the dean awake at night
The sex
The drugs
They use
The booze
They hide
From promises
The lies
Oh the lies

Oh Ms. porter's rolling in her grave
Save what Jackie 'O would say
If she knew
What they do at night

She's bedded half of the nova nine
And she's blown through half of her daddy's wine
The boys back home write plaintive poems
And pray to summer gods that she'll appear
But she's here
Singing

Farmington we raise our voices
And to you we sing our praise

Oh Ms. porter's rolling in her grave
Save what Jackie 'O would say
If she knew
What they do at night

  • I love that someone likes our school enough to write a song about it but hm I graduated there without passing a note, having sex, using any drugs, or drinking alcohol once.

  • @Americanabeille duly noted, but it seems like you're placing a value judgement on sex, drinking and drugs. There's nothing to insinuate that the unnamed protagonist (via 3rd person by what could be an unreliable narrator) is a poor student or bad person. The nar. is perhaps a little hyperbolic at times, but not critical. This isn't a work of non-fiction or a statement on academia. it's a song about a particular character (who is of course not representative of an entire school)

  • well i appreciate a song about mps as much as any alum but...ouch.

  • @abelle310 I'm honestly mortified at the general consensus that the song is deriding MPS. It's not meant to be an ouch I swear. there's no malice in the song and I'm quite enamored of the school. All of the things in the song are just normal things that a lot of teenagers at any school do (I also went to a boarding school for a time), but I do love the idea that they happen even in one of the most prestigious institutions in the world. I hope that clears things up a little.

  • Why?

  • @alazgirl Why not?

  • i don't appreciate how lyrics from a song that is sacred to us is being used in this song that sheds a negative light on our school. I'm feeling really and truly disrespected.

  • I think this song is definitely representative of my time at Porter's. I know I'm the odd girl out here in the comments.. but like he said.. this isn't supposed to represent EVERYONE's experience at Porter's. Just one girl. And she likes it even though it made her cry.
