I don't want to offend you, but it's clear throughout your post that YOU want to be like everybody else, many gays don't feel the need to homogenize into the beige mainstream. We share more in common with straight people than we have differences, but we are still a sexual minority. Don't reject difference, embrace it. If you can do that, your internalized homophobia will fade away.
