Maureen O'Sullivan was a former resident of one of Ireland's notorious Magdalene Laundries. When she was just 12 years old, her mother took her away from her home and she ended up in a Magdalene Laundry in New Ross, Co. Wexford, Ireland. It was run by the Good Shepherd Sisters and Maureen says she suffered horrendous physical and psychological abuses there. She features in the new documentary "The Forgotten Maggies". On Sunday 12th July Maureen spoke to Karen Coleman on her show "The Wide Angle" on Newstalk106-108.

  • All Nuns, Priests, or Bishops (still living) who ran the laundries & were involved in child abuse need to be criminally prosecuted. The religious orders who profited by this exploitation need to be civilly prosecuted, outlawed and shut down. All young women who died in the laundries, need to be accounted for and public explanations given to family and relatives for each girl's death. The Vatican needs to publicly apologize for its lack of supervision and must embrace democratic governance.

  • God damn to Hell every nun who ran these stalags!!

  • I'm glad I'm Baptist

  • So, studying the history of mankind I'm convinced Satan is real, humankind is possessed and these institutions are spearheading it's influence on the world.

Psychopathy is ubiquitous, and is very much encouraged on a subliminal level by the world we live in. Most people have no clue this went on and is still going on. How widespread pedophilia and sexual abuse going on in catholic schools is one example.

    The inquisition.

Come on people, it's still the same institution.

  • @cloudsurfer007 Families could withdraw any relative from these institutions. Where were they??

This is a fine example of how theocracy fucks up the basic human instinct.

  • @bcrocker33 I know, right? How is the different from what the Muzzies do?

  • @nthomas32 some of those nuns are still alive, maybe we can help a bit with that Hell thing!

  • @cloudsurfer007 I think the pope should be arrested for allowing things like this. It still happens in Africa, they tell the people there condoms are evil, and they die of AIDS.

  • evil bastards.........

  • @legalman1980 That's just the kind of crap I'd expect from at least one person. What about the physical and mental abuse these girls went through? All in the name of the catholic church. Is that worth it? Listen to what these women are saying. I suppose the men who had sex with these women didn't do anything wrong did they? I suppose men don't spread STDs then? These places shut down and for good reason

  • DONT LET THEM EXPLAIN THIS AWAY.....WORLD CRIMINAL COURT TRIALS

    EXPOSE THE BASTARDS
