OMG!!!!! I haven't heard this song in years! This tune was my introduction to Brian's music way back in '89. I use to hear it on a daily basis back then on a smooth jazz station that has long been off the air. When I first heard it, I absolutely fell in love with this song and fell in love with Brian's music which to this day I listen to. Had the pleasure of seeing him for the 1st time in '07 when he was touring with Jeff Lorber (a legend!), Rick Braun, Gary Meeks & Dave Weckl. Great show!
@soeffingwhat I doubt that. It says in the descriptions that he's playing a piccolo bass (which he does often) so he's probably just playing along with a backing track. The distortion is more than likely made with a stompbox or rack effect.
Its actually a Bass, but its being put through a Sequencer which means the Guys can trigger off different sounds, in this case a number of different Guitar sounds.
I have to leave a comment, but that solo took all the words out of my brain. WOWWY

@Thatguy301
Correct on all counts.
The little action he does right before he starts playing is turning on the ipod with the backing tracks.
He has a Digitech RP-90 and an EBS reverb on the floor in front of him.
