Early education programs do not supplant parents, but support them as their childs first and most important teacher. The sad reality is that many low-income parents grew up in poverty and may not have the tools to support their childs education. Evidence-based programs coach low-income parents on how to best support their childs education at school and at home starting before the child is born. Only by supporting the family can we narrow the achievement gap and break the cycle of poverty.

It is not just about the early education programs that are offered by the education system, but what can also be offered by neighbourhood associations. If we work together with all the stakeholders, we can provide for children and their families.

Dont get too upset, the same child was very happy only a minute later. It's called the power of acting.

That is so touching. We are new grandparents and love our newest additions to our family. I can't imagine a little child being without family, without food, without a home or both parents. The reality is..... changeable! SELF is looking to help make those kinds of changes right here in Clark County, Washington. (Selfwa.org)

The world is lead forward by idealism but driven forward by pragmatism - unfortunately its 10% idealism and 90% pragmatism.
Pragmatically the adults have all the power and 90% of them will use that power to look after Number One - themselves.
(I thought St Ignatius said '"Give me a child until he is seven and I will give you the man"....')

Love this video and enjoyed reading all comments and opinions. Reminds me of why I loved being a teacher in the first place, although it can be frustrating when u get a child that u know is suffering and u try to help them feel confident and happy only to have it all unravelled when they go home makes u wanna scream.... WTF????!!!!
