  • @emogal365 said: "the song was just written by clapton about living in his first house not really anythin religious implied"

Clapton's alcoholism almost destroyed him. He went to Hazeldon to rehab, then continued to work on his recovery by joining AA. He believes firmly that the 12 Steps saved him. 12 Stepprograms (AA, NA) are fundamentally God oriented, it's philosophy is praying, developing a spiritual relationship with God, and submitting to the Will of God. He's a commited Christian

  • Wow yeah last great 'supergroup' was The Travelling Wilbury's' what a lineup! ;)

  • Larry Norman did a wonderful cover....what a wonderful words , in school I was looking to connect like this song speaks of~ three years later i did find the "presence of the lord" all i really had to do was really look.

  • @longlivetheking58 Excuse me sir, you are almost correct. This song was released with Blind Faith, time when he was still a drug adict (and without any intention of rehab). That said, @emogal365 is correct, Eric Clapton himself said it in his autobiography.

  • Nice !

  • @MVT44 So you don't like The Weight by the Band? What about One Toke Over The Line? Mrs. Robinson?

  • As a militant atheist I will admit that this is the only song that is somewhat religious in nature that I can tolerate. Such an amazing song

  • IN THE PRESENCE OF THE LORD!

  • The annointing is on this one boys. Praise God! Love Winwood and Clapton, pillars of the music world!

  • I was there in 1969, so am scrutinising the [unclimbable?] trees. I now need a scaff-tower to trim a few trees here?
