I watched her from the side of the stage at The Southgate House in Newport, Kentucky probably 8-10 years ago. I had long been an admirer of her beautiful traditional country voice. That night I was completely mesmerized by her. I will never forget it. It was one of the most wonderful concerts I have been to in my life and I've seen hundreds of acts. It's no wonder artists like John Prine and Tom Russell record with her. I'd like to listen in on one of her family jam sessions with Greg and Pieta.
I only discovered this amazingly talented lady recently via Transatlantic Sessions. I've purchased 2 of her CDs and will purchase the other one. It is refreshing to hear an artist (write) and speak from the heart. Being from the midwest, I listened to mostly country/bluegrass when growing up (50's). Iris' vocals, words and delivery touch my memories. I 'lived' many of her lyrics. Iris is one of our music treasures. Please post comments, folks-she deserves to know we're here.
Thank you! A great song from Iris and strong stagepresence. Is this song on some record yet? If you have more clips form this gig, is it possible to see them?
Iris is unique; I can only repeat what another poster said - no frills, no gimmicks - pure talent. Just her own self is good enough.
