Nice work! In your opinion, would you say that it is too loud to be used in a room you are working in? I'm thinking of getting one and would like to stick it my office.
Cheers

Pretty much all Supermicro servers have a "workstation" option in BIOS. This will cause the BSP to run the fans at lower speeds without having to modify the box.

@ngtflyer This is an older revision of the chasis and only has the 3 pin fan connectors. Also all the larger 1.2 amp fans hook up directly to the backplane (not the motherboard) which means they can't run in low speed mode. A newer 2u supermicro chasis I have (8 drives) did have 4 pin connectors for all the fans and It was about as quiet.
Also I am using these as disk chasis (sas expander only) so no motherboard will be in them.

@ngtflyer This is true. However this is an older model of chasis which only has 3 pin connectors and the connectors go to the backplane this is true for the newer version to. The motherboard only controlled the back 2 fans. On a 2u supermicro case I Have all fans are controlled by motherboard as they are not hooked up to the backplane. Not the case for this 3u one.
