Insurance - a numbers racket

In his speech to the Congress and the nation, President Obama said he favored a policy that mandates each and every American carry a policy of health insurance. We hadnt previously recognized him as a gambling man. For insurance, risk remediation, is nothing more concrete than a bet a bet your number wont come up anytime soon making insurance nothing more than a sort of legitimized numbers racket.
Health is too portentous a matter to be determined by a spin of the wheel. Look, we pay twice as much for half as much health care as the next most profligate spender. We, a clever and innovative people, can spend half as much for twice the care, or better. Its in our nature. Its our need, our great and imminent need.
