Ammo cook off? At the wing tip in some takes, and the wing root in others, sometimes merely the wing section coming loose and sometimes the whole plane engulfed in flames? You, sir, have no idea what you are talking of. Especially since many other warbirds of the time carried 20mm ammo, and "ammo cook off" was never considered to be a problem in any of them. Actually, the Germans introduced the 30mm cannon because the 20mm lacked in HE punch...

You could be right about the 20mm ammo 'cook off', it definately sounds possible. I hadn't even realised that might happen.
