We taught our kids to read using BrillKids Little Reader. It's roughly the same price as Your Baby Can Read but you get a lot more bang for your buck b/c it’s customizable software. Use BKAFF40902 to save a little more $. They offer a 2 week trial period but unlike YBCR, they don't require a credit card upfront. My kids mastered all the words in YBCR but didn’t figure out how to decode new words until we after we started Little Reader. The online parent forum is awesome too.

i think that this is a great program - please also keep in mind that also at some daycare and babysitting environments, they let the kids watch TV, movies, and other DVDs. this is a nice way to control what is being exposed to your kids at an early age. Some toddlers watch as much tv as adults and its a shame. Less TV, more books! Indeed if you are at home with your child daily, you can make your own version.. thats how the founder developed the series in the first place!

Thank you so much! Today, you were the answer. My Neice and I have been considering this program for her son but just really wasnt sure; the cost and will it really help? After the research I already done and watching your videos on the program, I have decided to give it a try. Again Thank you so much! So unfortunate, almost 6000 views and only 18 ratings! Maybe I read the numbers wrong.

I borrowed the starter dvd from a friend. My baby [13 months] is looking at the program now... this is his first time seeing it and he is responding to it. He's clap's when they clap and says the word cat when they show it. This program is sort of basic in my opinion.. what I mean by that is.. I can and I would rather make my own version of it; developing it more as the child develops.
It will be more personal and I would include places, things and people that he see's everyday.

I understand this is supposed to be an easier way of introducing your child to reading but i agree with the comments before me. All you have to do is take a weekly trip to the library and the ball starts there. I also heard these people who are selling this product where rip offs but idk. Happy reading!

My family and I spend our sunday afternoons at Borders Book Store, we love there childrens section and theres nothing wrong incorporating a 30 min. video about reading into their daily schedules. And I think you were talking about the Baby Einstein which is completely different from what we do.
