Thomas Pridgen is a fucking beast at drums.
But he only really, truly knows how to go hard. He'll even go hard on the soft parts. That can lead to a displeasing show.

yeah I agree. I can't really describe him. The reason I only he has the page essence is that he has this big nact to experiment. And I really love that from him!. Not many guitar players these days push the boundaries of music and sound good at the same time.

emotionless? The Mars Volta shows the most "emotion" i have ever heard any other show band in my life. They're truely genuis i beleive. Go listen to De-Loused in the Comatorium and tell me what you think after hearing it.
