John McCall of the 8th Connecticut Infantry was wounded and captured at the Battle of Antietam on Sept. 17, 1862. A captain in Company K, he was killed at Drewry's Bluff (Fort Darling) on May 16, 1864. He was described as an officer who "possessed all the prominent characteristics of a good soldier."
