Here in the UK each year we have had large amounts of snow all the transport sectors like the buses and airports etc.. say they will be prepared and yet they never are. No one will be getting on buses in the snow. Probably becasue it's too cold and they won't want to go to work. So stick about 20 bags of grit on the seats over the back axle and even if you do get stuck you have something to get you out. Or even better get the hooligans that were snowballing your bus to help. Job Done

I've seen a Landrover tow a freighted artic- put em in low range 4x4 and you wouldn't believe what they can pull. It's why the Police were so keen on the original range rovers.

Winter Tyres are what you need. Buses here in Switzerland go no problem in winter.

@talktalkmodem actually the landrover would be more effective than you might think. A person weighs about 1/14th of a ton and is still able to push a 1.5 ton car. Also think about how tugboats work.
