@shalis16 well what if the northern tribes met with some mayan refugees and learned how to build the aztec empire? That is what I was asking.

No, the people who eventually would become the Aztec came from the north (of mexico). They called themselves the Mexica. After they arrived at lake Texcoco their prophecy became truth after sighting an eagle sitting on a cactus (a sign from the Gods). Soon they began expanding the land into the lake, and build Tenochtitlán on top of it.

odd =/= idiotic. :/ they were simply different. i mean, if people of the past sees our culture where we would put needles in our body and get our body sliced up just to look thin and beautiful (especially the thin part, since a lot of past cultured considered a bit of fat to be breautiful), they would probably think us odd too. :/
