Max Scherzer warms up during a November 14 Arizona Fall League game between the Scottsdale Scorpions and the Mesa Solar Sox. The right handed pitcher was drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the first round (11th overall) of the 2006 First-Year Player Draft out of Missouri. Scherzer went 2-0 with a 0.53 earned run average with the high Single-A Visalia Oaks of the California League in 2007. He struck out 30 batters in 17 innings of work and allowed just seven batters to reach base. He was promoted to Double-A Mobile of the Southern League. He posted a 4-4 record with a 3.91 earned run average with the Bay Bears and fanned 76 batters in 73 and 2/3 innings.
obviously the d-backs saw something they liked otherwise he wouldnt have been a first rounder.

the guy throws in the upper 90s. There is no way to produce that type of arm speed being just an upper body guy. You dont have to drop down far and drive out to create velocity. He is doing very well creating it himself. Throws harder then Josh becket and he drops and drives further then any of them. He has very effiecnent mechanics..

yeah, and as a dbacks fan its kinda scary, his mechanics dont seem all that sharp at all.

typical upper body thrower. Near zero use of anything from the letters down.
