LASIK or Laser-Assisted In Situ Keratomileusis is a surgical procedure intended to reduce a person's dependency on glasses or contact lenses.

LASIK surgery is most commonly performed as a cure for myopia (nearsightedness), but can also be used to cure hyperopia (farsightedness) or astigmatism (corneal irregularities).

LASIK is a procedure that permanently changes the shape of the cornea using a special laser and thus focusing the light rays exactly on the retina.

The steps of the procedure are as follows:

A suction ring is placed on the eye to stabilize and check the eye pressure.

The microkeratome, a cutting instrument, is attached to the suction ring.

The blade of the microkeratome is used to cut a flap in the cornea.

The exposed inner layer of the cornea is then reshaped with an excimer laser.

The corneal flap is returned to its original position.

LASIK is an ambulatory procedure; the patient can walk into the surgery center, have the procedure and walk out again and is awake the whole time. Occasionally, the doctor may administer a mild oral sedative.

  • @bulldoggin12 wow, that's a relief, i guess all the problems come out from cutting the eye (seen many horrible videos on that) i was looking forward to actually see it done without sharp blades involved. that's the only way i would allow it for myself. can you direct me to any video of the kind of surgery you had?

  • @NeophyteOneable I'm from Denmark and I had it done! Only on one eye though because my other eye didn't need it but I was half blind on my left eye and could barely make out the first two big words on the reading chart... They didn't do it like it's shown in this video when I had it done in Århus though...

  • And technically you'd be lying down, not standning. :P

  • @abumuhannadh They don't do it this way anymore or at least not in Denmark. There is no cutting with any sharp instrument involved but instead a type of suction cup is placed over the eye at the beginning of the surgery, also eliminating the need for drops to keep the eyes moistened. The laser is actually not orange, but starts out green, turns grey and then fades into a very bright white light. I had it done at a hospital that uses the newest instruments however so I avoided the "can opener".

  • @supermario268 You know I had lasik done a week ago and never saw a video. It all went smooth and fast and now I have 20/15. But after seeing this videos I keep thinking "I CANT BELIEVE I WENT THROUGH ALL THAT?" So in other words. I guess its bad when you see the whole picture, but when you cant see much of the ring, and cutting of the flap then its not bad at all!

  • @AyaSerry1 how was it

  • ill stick with glasses or contacts

    im gonna throw up

this is the like 5th video i saw related to this

  • Oh God wish me luck i'am gonna do it next week !!

  • @NeophyteOneable your clearly an idiot because this is a proven effective treatment
