After Effects Basics - Part 2

I know you have sony vegas, so can you tell me how to split a video in after effects like you would do in sony vegas? Also how to shorten it

to split a clip in after effects select the clip and spot where you want to cut then press Ctrl + Shift + D. That should cut it.

i know how to add a effect to a tekst, but where i find the time line of the effect? sow i can move around the tekst?

If you click on the Text/Tekst then you can just move it but the certain effect on the text is inside the timeline. so click the little triangle next to the text/tekstand it will make bunch of options drop down.

I don't know if this is possible and I'm not trying to make it sound complicated but,say i made a video and wanted to get several different views of the scene from different points,how do i edit out the time of me going from place to place to set up the camera?

@22aaa no, think of the relationship between premiere and after effects like imovie and final cut. one is a stripped down version of the other, and is mainly designed for cutting the video correctly.
