Willie Bain takes his seat in the House of Commons

Willie Bain the is the Labour Member of Parliament for Glasgow North East. He would his seat in a by-election which came about after the resignation of local MP and Speaker of the British House of Commons, Michael Martin.

Before taking his seat, Bain took the Oath of Allegiance:
"I do swear by Almighty God that I will be faithful and bear true allegiance to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, her heirs and successors, according to law. So help me God."

How is the House of Commons different from the House of Representatives?

In the US, the House of Representatives has the same legislative function as the House of Commons in the UK.

The biggest difference is the role of the Speaker. In the UK, the Speaker is an impartial presiding officer. In the US, the Speaker is like the Prime Minister in a parliamentary system, just without the executive power.

If you mean the Australian or Jamaican Houses of Representaives, they are very similar to the House of Commons in the UK.
