Arizona's starting pitching has been good as advertised this season but their bats have been outstanding as the D' Backs opened the season 11-4 in their first 15 games. The Diamondbacks are averaging over 6 runs a game leading Major League Baseball and hitting .273 as a team second in the National League. Despite hitting .263 as a team the Padres aren't scoring runs as they average only 3.3 runs per game second last in all of Major League Baseball. Chris Young was tagged for 6 earned runs and 7 hits over 7 innings in his last start versus the Dodgers. Young isn't striking out batters like he used to and is struggling with command as he has walked 12 batters in 17 innings pitched. Dan Haren has given up only 2 earned runs over 12 innings in his last 2 starts. Haren only allows only 1 base runner per inning and doesn't walk too many batters. Haren has gotten the strikeout this season as he gets 1 per inning and will face a Padre team the worst in baseball striking out averaging about 8 per game. Diamondback hitters pounded Young last season scoring 16 earned runs over 19 2/3rd's innings. Lay the chalk here with Arizona --145.
