  • Very few exotic animals are imported anymore. Most are very successfully captive bred. The problem now is people who don't understand, or who hate animal owners, are doing everything in their power to 'rid us of our exotic animals'. I just wish that there was a way to share what we know and experience when working around exotic animals with everyone. Then, a lot of these crazy ideas about where animals belong would simply go away.

  • At about 4 minutes in the video states "some people have to surrender pets do to moving where wild animals are not allowed" and "who plans 20 years in the future?"

Uh, I would NEVER commit to moving anywhere I couldn't take my cats. My pets are my children. Maybe some animal owners don't feel the same, and if so, they Should NOT own them!!!

  • What is the name of this song?????? Please Reply Back !!!! - awesome video by the way :)

  • It is very hard to breed most exotic pets in captivity—one of the many tell-tale signs that even experts don't understand what these animals need in order to thrive. To meet the demands of those who keep exotic animals as pets, dealers often have to take the animals from their native lands. This disrupts the ecosystems from which they are stolen, and can disrupt the ecosystems to which they are taken if they escape or are set loose.

  • if you care for the welfare of the animal you leave it in its natural habitat! Since the vast majority of people who keep exotic animals cannot meet their needs, the animals may be caged, chained, or even beaten into submission.coz if they were there would be no need for such confinements,a walk on a leash through the park won't cut it.Sometimes, people will have an animal's teeth or claws removed, so that the animal cannot harm the owner even when he does struggle.what abt medical care???

  • @themiddleman009 You have been listening to the animal rights folks, who want no one to have animals, period. Good habitats aren't that hard to build. An adult tiger only needs 10-12 pounds of food/day. Training is available to help people get started. I believe very strongly in animal welfare. But as we are essentially animals ourselves and share our world and our fate with the animals, I believe that (responsibly) owning and using animals is a fundamental right.

  • @timbalionguy Exotic pets owners are just satisfying a need to show off. Does a lion really need to live in a chain linked fence, be fed and groomed, and allowed to walk around his confinement space? No better than zoos.

I hope places like reanoexotics do get shut down and legally different states make it tougher to own exotic pets. Once I finish law school in Chicago, I will be involved in creating new legislation for exotic pet owners in Illinois.

  • Owning a parrot or turtle is one thing. But how many big cat owners can honestly afford to feed and house a tiger properly? An adult tiger needs a well constricted habitat costing thousands and will eat between 30-50 lbs. of meat each day. Not to mention the dangers associated with living with these animals! It takes a very educated and wealthy person to properly keep exotic animals for personal purposes. Your "right" to keep them is not as important as my "right" to demand proper care of them.

  • love the video, and as an exotic animal caregiver, the news media lends too much creedence to the garbage spewed by the HSUS, PETA, and their mouthpiece Jack Hanna. I for one would like to see his credentials. ho many cages has he cleaned? How many animals has he owned?

  • I suspect that if someone wants to commit themselves to responsible ownership that they can do it. What states have the fewest restrictions. Does someone publish orientation materials so people can see what they are getting into and how to do it with care. My friend's ocelot was like a big kitty cat. Note there was an incident recently in Zanesville Ohio that may make Ohio very restrictive. I know California already is.

  • Why don't any of you people realize that an animal is NOT safe in the wild?

Not from disease, starvation OR POACHERS. Any animal that is well taken care of will be happy regardless of where it lives. Wild animals lead a a very stressful life and are not necessarily happier by our definitions. Nevermind the fact that captive born exotics WILL FUCKING DIE IN THE WILD because they are semi domestic now.

  • Let me paint a picture for anyone who supports these legislations: Imagine having a dog. He adores you. You have given him food, a home and a loving family. All of a sudden the government bans anyone from owning a dog, because of a recent event where one sick, twisted fiend constantly beat his puppy for fun! DOES THAT SEEM FAIR? Seriously, I find it amazing that people don't see that! I understand these are wild animals, but if they are truly happy with their owners, isn't that all that matters?
