The Weimar Republic was formed in 1919, so they didn't in themselves, lose WW1, they just inherited the mess.

Although Germany ended up paying back only a small amount of the reparations that were imposed by the Treaty of Versailles, the imposition of the reparations had the effect of discouraging market loans to the country, which forced the Wiemar government to finance its deficit by printing more money itself, leading eventually to hyperinflation
