Shot with my little dinky camera -- I never thought a true 90-degree cut-shot was possible, but when I finally managed to persuade my nemesis/hero Bob Jewett to try this shot on camera, he somehow managed to pull it off... and it didn't take him long. What's even more impressive; this is done on a super tight table (quadruple shimmed pockets). For you who don't know this guy, I reluctantly admit that he's one of the most knowledgeable billiards persons of our time, and hence, as I've said many times before, I hate this guy ;^)

90 degrees is absolutely impossible without throwing it using english. Using this much english on a thin cut is ridiculously hard due to deflection and slippage. In a real game it would be more beneficial to play a safety or go for a different ball/pocket. Absolutely a beautiful shot on the 5th try though.

@capatainnemo note the word impossible is in quotes, which is supposed to mean something. I guess you didn't understand that.

@capatainnemo it is an "impossible" cut shot, that's why he has to throw the ball in with english. if someone were to try to cut it in with no spin it would absolutely be impossible

I got to say I've tried that shot more times than I can count and only made it once any advice would help greatly I think I'm putting to much spin on the ball

@h0652507
As you can see Bob's playing the 5-ball and makes it on the 5th try -- hence, the piece is called "Take Five" (by Dave Brubeck, a local Bay Area guy).
