In this part, we review Quake 2. This was released in 1997 and had a different theme to it. Instead of gunning down demons, we have cyborg aliens. We take a look at the single-player of Quake II, the Nintendo 64 and Sony Playstation ports, and the two official expansion packs (mission packs). Sonic Mayhem does the music for Quake 2.

A special "Era Game Reviews" series of reviews that focus on games made by the people behind id Software. Learn about id Software history by "Exploring the Id".

  • Remember about QuakeII in Edge magazine - I was ecstatic... oh those were the days.

    Great review!

  • @GigaBoost Daikatana was not made by ID software..it was maded by Ion Storm

  • This game seems to have aged much better than Goldeneye 007, mostly due to better controls.

  • As a 9 or 10 year old child, Quake 2 was the most awesome computer game ever made. The in-between mission videos were the coolest thing I ever saw, and to this day, is probably one of the most badass games I've ever played. The music was hardcore and the graphics were astounding. The level of intensity in this game was something which was never realized before in a videogame and wasn't until many years later that any other computer game company came even close to matching the awesome of Quake 2.

  • Ground Zero is awesome... By the way I never thought you would review this one, but nice!

  • Yeah, Quake 2 never quite grabbed me when it first came out... It just felt like more of the same

  • @GigaBoost His name is Jason

  • Will Daikatana be in this series? I hope so!

Keep up the good work GGBeyond (I don't know what to call you...)! I love these videos.

  • @LtHavoc1983 oh, yeah. I guess you have a point there

  • at the beginng it was stated that john romero quit accoring to masters of doom the book john carmack fired john romero because he claimed he wasnt doing his work for the company so he fired him and threatened to dissolve the company
