Nihon Kikai Kogyo Co., Ltd. exhibited its CD-I fire pump truck and Fire-CAFS system during the 2008 Tokyo International Fire and Safety Exhibition. Some of the new features include an increased the vehicle height of 25cm, a tank made of polypropylene (PP), which is ideal for recycling, and reduced the tank weight from 240kg to 80kg, and an aluminum pump, which is about 60% lighter than conventional pumps. It also comes equipped with a CAFS (Compressed Air Foam System) system. The CAFS system is a device that mixes water, air, and foam in a hose and then shoots out the mixture to extinguish fires. The system boasts of a water discharge volume of over 3000 liters, which is the largest discharge volume of equipment in Japan. Nihon Kikai Kogyo plans to obtain a government evaluation by the first part of September 2008.
