Before running Tough Mudder on Sunday, a friend and I shot this time lapse experiment at the Saturday Race. The goal was to try different shutter speeds on people compared to clouds or sunlight. I also wanted to run my Stage Zero dolly through a field test. Unfortunately, after the opening shot I lost the cord that controls the camera. I don't consider the experiment a success but a lot of the lessons learned will pay dividends on later projects.

Used
Canon 5D MKII
70-200 2.8
17-35 2.8
50mm 1.4
Dynamic Perception Stage Zero Dolly (for one shot!)

  • Pretty cool!

  • @JimmyDShea Thanks man! Since this experiment I've learned how to export the timelapses so the end product does the full frame some justice. When are we going to see some timelapses from the 'Stan!

  • Not bad - try reducing your intervals next time (between shots) when you have so much action going on. It will lend a more professional and cinematic look to your time-lapse shots with people running around. (It looked like you were taking a frame every 5-6 seconds, if not longer, try reducing that to 2-4 seconds and drag the shutter a bit to add motion blur). Music was a good choice! (just be careful of licensing...)
