Tonight a group on the TDS label (Target Records). Owned by Roger Cook & Roger Greenaway. The only other artist that had a hit on that label was Marmalade with FALLING APART AT THE SEAMS! TONIGHT CD 1. DRUMMER MAN (TDS 1 a) 2. STROLL ON BY (TDS 1 b) 3. MONEY THAT’S YOUR PROBLEM (TDS 2 a) 4. NO SYMPATHY (TDS 2 b) 5. WHEELS (TDS 4 a) 6. I CAN PLAY FASTER THAN YOU CAN (TDS 4 b) 7. JEALOUSY KILLS (TDS 5 a) 8. SECOND HAND MAN (TDS 5 b) 9. I CAN DETECT YOU FOR 100, 000 MILES (DEMO)
Probably if they'd been American they'd have been big as they seem to have more in common with that Cars, Cheap Trick new wave seventies Yank thing which was looked at with a slight distain over here during the punk era. A penchance towards competency weren't much appreciated round 'ere in them thar days.
After 32 years, they got their album released! And a live gig this December 28th at the Riga club in Southend. All the original members as well. Should be a blast. Well done Russ for dogged persistance!!
Hi Aaron, your dad was one of my old schoolfriends at Fitz, back in the early 70's, (and playing with a band called 'Streamer' as I recall) It was good to see this video on here. I've still got this one and a couple of others on vinyl. 'Stroll on by' was my favorite btw. Wish him well with the new album from me
It's a good song, and thanks for posting it, but I think Stroll On By, b-side of Drummer Man, would've made a better single. Let's hope they put out the album this year. 31 years isn't THAT long!
on FIRST listen, the start really puts me in mind of Virginia Plain! i think i loved Drummerman so much that i cant get into this one, but im so glad i found the band
love this. got the single; scratched to bits now sadly. steve lamacq played this on 6music the other night. why so few views?

The singer and guitarist (Chris and Dave) formed a band called Go2 - they released 3 singles on Polydor in the early 80s.
The bass player joined Wilko Johnson for a while.
Tonight are rumoured to be back together!
I've yet to see any gigs though - hint hint!
