The school was built in 1854. A fire destroyed much of it in 1926, but was remodeled in 1927. According to rumor, there was another fire in 1992 which destroyed the school for good. I could not find an "official" closing date, but my guess is that the school wasn't touched after that fire.

  • About 10 years ago, in my ghost chasing days.... I was there with a few friends. I started to get a little cold so I went in the car. I locked the doors and was sitting in the back seat. Everybody was inside still. Next thing I know both front LOCKED car doors flung open at the same time. To this day I will NEVER go back there.

  • @ravenkiddy That is one freaky cool story! Thanks for posting!

  • Ok, first of all as a resident of stockton, the next town over i can say that there were no casualties in the fire. second, yes the place is creepy, but i've been there and it really isn't safe to be romping around anymore...

  • @jadedheart30 its true.. i live 30 seconds away from that....

  • @ravenkiddy i heard it was supposadley haunted by a football player called buckeye who died in the 1950s i read about it in a book called haunted schools that was tur stories

  • I love these kinds of places...if I ever won the lottery I would go around renovating these old haunted places and make em something...but preserve as much as I could. I hate to see them sitting there rotting and being vandalized.

  • @babiluv30 yes he is

  • just a correction for ya. The chalkboard sketches depicted children reciting the pledge of allegiance, not whatever you said. They have been tagged over to the point where you cant see the images anymore, and they have since been removed from he school.

  • @claire1667 yes

  • is that still there?

  • @SharkKid42 the fire was set by a local teenager whom was way ahead of me in school. He set several buildings on fire. Real loser.

  • I read a story about how the fire happened saposidly it was a ghost or something i cant remember I believe the story is in the book called New Jersey Haunts. Its a good book I got it in Ocean City in a small book store on the board walk.

I would give it a read if you like stuff like this.
