-Oh and the answer to your question "How much evidence would it take for an Atheist to become a Christian?" is "Exactly as much evidence as it took to convince the Atheist that Dinosaurs existed".-
That's a pretty damn good way to answer that.

@dechha1981 I'd say the simplest definition of a god is an self-aware intelligence that was not produced by simpler antecedents. Most of Star Trek's god like aliens admit to having evolved to their current state.
If the word 'god' could apply to anything, it would be one of those kinds of entities without evolution or gradually increasing complexity as an explanation for it's existence.

But, I dont wanna be rational any more!

@Hockeygod98 But at that point I might also just shrug and tentatively regard the bible as true in some sense, at least to the extent that it doesn't contradict itself, much like I accept various other historical people based on worthless evidence. At least then there would not be an issue with the events described being basically impossible.
-
@Hockeygod98 Because of that, I actually have a tiny bit of sympathy for the idea that evidence doesn't matter. If I were to discuss the nature of the "evidence" for the resurrection, it would be purely to demonstrate that belief in it is not supported. There simply is no way a Christian could present data that could lead me to believe it happened without proving that God exists. After knowing that supernaturalism is true I'd probably abandon the idea that we can know history.
-
@Hockeygod98 Hehe, I don't think it's entirely true. The supernatural aspect of Christianity means that pretty much no historical evidence could be sufficient as any type of fraud or misunderstanding would be more likely than the least probable event possible - a natural impossibility, or a miracle.
Ultimately, some kind of readily available contemporary evidence would be required. Such as prayers of only Christians being answered or a manifestation of God.

It doesn't really say anything about them, just the way we think of the way they think.
I'm not certain what amount of evidence would convince me that Yahweh is a god, and not just an evil alien overlord. However, distinguishing between god and advanced alien is a minor semantic issue. I'd strongly consider believing in Yahweh if all the firstborn of the enemies of Isreal died in one night. Or maybe if an unexplainable firestorm took out San Fransisco.
Y'know, the kind of stuff the bible says he's willing to do to show he exists.

Ah yes. what IS the difference between a god and any given omnipotent being from star Trek? Ironically, the least god-like one was Apolo.
