Look up hammock camping by Shug Emery here on you tube. His solution to thee frozen butt is an "under-quilt" He made his out of down...compact, light weight and very warm. This hangs on the outside of the hammock to prevent compression and maximize warmth. A great idea!

@muetter It dosn't hurt at all! the hamock forms to your back and curvature witch makes it extremely comfortable

You say you were cold,..what temp was it at night ?

U should get an army bivy sleeping systems then u wont be cold. So what is better eno hammocks of hennessy

I have a tip for to avoid the cold: bring two sleeping bags with you. Serious. I have one "big" sleeping bag and one thin ultra light. When it's really cold I sleep inside the ultra light, inside the big one. Works for me.

Uhmm...I gonna say that I think your hammock is waaaay to close to those embers from that fire...lol
Where'd you buy that poncho? I'm looking for a good one that can double as an emergency shelter but can't seem to find one.

If you end up unable to find suitable trees to hang your hammock can you use it on the ground?

@XCritonX I've heard of people using these as bivy sacks, but I'd be reluctant to do so. It would cause wear or make holes in the bottom. Thanks.
